The Tessera Falchion: Named from the striking tiled Damascus pattern on the blade. ‘Tessera’ refers to the small square tiles (tesserae) used in ancient Roman and Byzantine mosaics. The intricate, repeating tile-like pattern in the steel reminded me of those timeless mosaic masterpieces.
This mosaic Damascus falchion was made hand made at Stelter MFG forge . The blade measures 18 inches long and 2.625 inches wide at its widest point. The cross guard and pommel are made from mild steel that has been selectively patinated and stippled to give it a vintage appearance. The grip is crafted from a stunning piece of Western Myall.
My vision for this falchion was to create a contrast between the clean, bright, and mirror-polished blade and the dark, rich, matte handle. The result is a perfectly balanced, elegant weapon that feels both timeless and otherworldly. I couldn’t be more thrilled with how it came together.
